26. Fernand Khnopff (1858-1921) Une Tête de Face
Lithograph, 1898, Croess-Olliger 303, 200 x 150 mm. Fine impression on tan wove paper with full margins, as published in The Studio. Khnopff, a Belgian, was an important symbolist painter and print maker. Although not a rare print, this study, with its odd composition and cropping, clearly exhibits the symbolist preoccupation with depiction of woman -- as angel or devil. |
