44. Herman Armour Webster (1878-1970) Road Through a Village, Near Maintenon
Lithograph, 1923, 185 x 275 mm. Fine impression on tan laid paper with good margins, deckle on two sides, signed with the estate stamp. Webster was an American expatriate in France, where he owned an old farm in the Dordogne. He drew beautifully, in a French style of forty or fifty years earlier, and basically never changed throughout his long artistic life. One may legitimately call him retardataire and yet many of his prints, drawings and watercolors are exceedingly beautiful. We have many works by him in stock. |
