Etching, 1617, 75 x 98 mm., Lieure 200 only state. Fine impression on laid paper with small margins; tiny repairs in the corners. A rare print (Lieure: RRR), this small but vast image shows the famous piazza of Siena with the tall campanile, the palace and the whirl of human activity.
It is among the earliest of Callot’s topographical representations in this style, being succeeded by the famous views of Paris, Nancy and Imprunetta. Only three impressions have appeared at public auction in the last twenty years.
