Ornament with a Bat

Fine impression on laid paper with thread margins or trimmed on the platemark. Tiny abrasion upper left. Aldegrever was one of the greatest masters of ornament prints and produced at least one hundred of them. Some were designs for goldsmiths and silversmiths and many were adapted by ceramicists, carvers, fabric designers and armorers, but most seem to have been produced for their own sake, small objets d’art of ink on paper.
