Picnic

Drypoint, Hardie 110, 168 x 178 mm. Wonderful impression with burr and light plate tone on laid paper with full margins, signed in brown ink. Of all the British etchers still waiting to be “rediscovered,” Hardie is probably the most eligible. Never one for heroic subjects or large plates, his scenes of everyday life are modestly presented but beautifully handled. Picnic is a lesson in the subtlety that can be achieved in the drypoint technique and an exquisite little print.
