Il Pleut à Verse! (It's Raining Cats and Dogs!)
Etching and drypoint, ca. 1873, 105 x 200 mm., Béraldi 212 ii/iii, B. N. Inv. N.D. Very fine impression with wiped plate tone, before the landscape was added at the far left, on thin, old laid paper with full margins; slight paper discoloration in the area of the old mat opening and a few dots of foxing in the margins. Although the ducks are well observed, Bracquemond's main concern here is the representation of weather. The summary execution adds to the feeling of movement, both of the air and of the ducks. The print is apparently scarce (and lacking in the B. N.).
