Le Bruleur d'Herbes,

Etching,120 x 150 mm., Bliss 680, edition 10 (?). Fine, delicate impression with light plate tone on old laid paper with full margins, signed in pencil; slight discoloration in the area of the old mat opening. According to the Bliss catalog, there were only 10 impressions made, but a pencil note in our copy of the catalog questions whether there was a second state and further impressions. It is currently impossible to know. The image shows an herb gatherer kneeling on the ground near a stone bridge with farm buildings and trees around. It is a perfectly elegant composition, sharing the fairytale quality of the previous image.
