Village au Bord de l'Eau (Village by the Shore)

Drypoint, 1848, 99 x 132 mm., Guiffrey 255 i/ii. A very fine impression with burr and plate tone, one of very few examples of this state before the roulette work, on wove paper with large margins. The scene shows a small village, with church and windmills, by the banks of a river at twilight. The reflections in the water are beautifully and subtly managed.
