Quai de l'Hôtel de Ville, Paris
Wood engraving, 1886, Lotz-Brissonneau 152, 163 x 160 mm. A fine impression on japan tissue with full margins, signed and numbered in ink from the Desmoulins edition of 35 (this was the first and only signed edition, preceded by a few proofs and the magazine publication). The view is from the Quai aux Fleurs, looking across the Seine with the bulk of St. Gervais et St. Protais in the background. Lepère's scenes of Paris in the snow are always among the most attractive of his urban images.
