Seraphin

Lithograph, 1854 from Les Differents Publics de Paris, 210 x 270 mm., Béraldi 66, No. 7, B. N. Inv. 194, No. 7. The scene here is the marionette theater, filled with adoring children and their accompanying nursemaids, nannies, mothers, fathers and grandfathers. It is a question whether the seraphim (angels) of the title refer to the little ones themselves or to their elders who self-sacrificingly accompany them. Fine impression on white wove paper with good margins.
