Amours Jouant auprès d'une Nymphe

Lithograph, in colors, ca.1900, 210 x 337 mm., Salomon 18 from Album de Paysage (projected), edition 100. Fine, fresh impression on chine volant with full margins, never hinged; a few very light spots of foxing in the margin and two small printer's creases, one in the lower left corner of the image. Roussel’s album, projected but never actually published as such by Vollard, is clearly his greatest contribution to print-making, on a par with those of Bonnard and Vuillard, though of a vastly different aesthetic vision. One might well cite the musical and literary parallel of Debussy’s song cycle Chansons de Bilitis, on poems of Pierre Louÿs, to pin down that vision.
