Turning Out the Light

Etching, 1905, 119 x 171 mm., Morse 134 iii/iii. Very fine impression with light plate tone, annotated as printed by Peters, on Arches laid paper with full margins, signed, titled and noted “100 proofs” in pencil and in perfect, fresh condition. The image is perhaps the most charming of all Sloan’s etchings and the focus is so strongly on the woman that one barely notices that there is a second figure in the bed.
