The Orchestra
Aquatint in blue, ca. 1893, 138 x 219 mm. Fine impression on thick, tan wove paper with very large margins, signed and numbered in blue pencil from the edition of 100. Maurin, a painter and important print maker was a friend of Toulouse-Lautrec and exhibited with him. The interesting cropping of the image here, along with the rough but powerful drawing technique, shows him in the forefront of the artistic concerns of the time.
