La Teste et la Qüeue du Serpent (The Head and the Tail of the Serpent) from the Fables of La Fontaine
Etching, drypoint and aquatint, 1886, ca. 370 x 240 mm., Béraldi 801 vii/vii, B. N. Inv. 424.
Superb impression of the final state, with the publication line and blind stamp, on vellum with good margins and signed in pencil; some creasing and rippling in the margins, the natural concomitant of printing on vellum, which also does not clearly show the platemark. Moreau's vision of Hell, brilliantly reproduced by Bracquemond.
