Le Père Muck (Le Bassoniste)
Etching, 1874, 189 x 158 mm., Exsteens 237 ii/ii. A fine impression on laid paper with good margins, as published in L’Artiste. Rops’ etching is certainly one of the two or three most famous artistic depictions of the bassoon and its player. Unfortunately, we can find no information about Muck himself, although presumably he was active in Belgium, where Rops worked.
