Lithographs, 1896-97, Bibliothèque Nationale Inventaire 422-430, 510 x 415 mm. The complete album of eight sheets, plus the illustrated cover, containing numerous lithographic sketches of scenes and people in Paris, signed and numbered in brown ink from the edition of 60, and hand dedicated to Félix Buhot. Béjot was friendly with both Buhot and Lepère and while his precise and objective etchings would seem to have little to do with either of them, these far more informal sketches, in a medium Béjot rarely essayed, are precisely the sort of sketches that both older artists made and used as basic material for their quite different finished prints. There was never any doubt that Béjot could draw exceedingly well, but there is a sense of life and vivacity here that is often somewhat submerged in his etchings. The sketches, some in black, some in brown, are printed on laid paper with a printed monogram in the lower corner of each sheet (the ink signature and dedication are on the cover). There are some edge tears, but no damage to the images.
