Wood engraving, 1938, 349 x 270 mm. Fine impression, showing a few roller marks, on strong, cream wove paper with good margins, titled, signed and dated in pencil and noted "a/p" (artist's proof); strips of brown paper tape at two margin edges. This particular image of Friedlander's, showing the performance of a string quartet in a library with an attentive audience, is clearly one of his best and yet is virtually never seen on the market. It is conceivable that he never printed an edition of the work.
