Description: Fine impression on chine volant with apparently full margins as printed, although the platemark is not visible at the top or bottom. Exsteens' dimensions are of the image, not the platemark, but the light sketches he mentions in the lower plate margin are still at least partially visible here (second state). The plate was designed as a frontispiece for a book: "Une Ete a la Capagne...Correspndance de deux jeunes Parisiennes, recueillie par un auteur a la more" by Gustave D.... The image, within an oval ornamented by putti, a devil, insects, fashion books, a snake and the intertwined letters of the title, is of two girls erotically kissing.
