Description: |
Fine impression on chine-applique or wove paper, trimmed on the platemark, which is visible in places; some light foxing visible only verso. The print reproduces a painting, attributed to David Teniers, which was apparently in de Boissieu's own collection. It is half-length portrait of a bearded man with a cape and ornate Dutch white collar, his hands crossed. Pinned to the wall beside him is a sketch of three peasant heads. |
