Fine impression on imperial japan with full margins, signed in pencil and dedicated to the sitter; small tape stains at the corners and old brown paper tape around the edges verso. Collet-Vogt or Vogt (he is listed latterly in biographical dictionaries) was both a journalist and poet, born in 1864. Werenskiold was known principally as a painter of portraits and of Norwegian landscapes and folk life. He also worked as an illustrator. This work is clearly a transfer lithograph as the laid texture of the original paper is clearly visible. |
