Description: Fine impression in black, printed with light plate tone and strong retroussage, on old laid paper with full, large margins, signed in pencil. The monument was begun in 1885 and was close to completion when Pennell saw it in 1911. It and its accompanying scaffolding dwarf the little three-storey houses at the foot. The bronze equestrian statue is seen on high between the scaffoldings. To contemporary Romans, the monument is known as "the white typewriter."
