Description: |
A fine, dark impression on brownish laid paper with full margins. The print, which is after a drawing by Victor Hugo and has his signature and the date 1868 etched into the plate, nowhere exhibits Courtry's name and it has sometimes been offered as an etching by Hugo himself (which it is not). The image is a typically mysterious stormy scene of a ruined castle on a hill. |
