Description: |
Fine, rich impression on laid paper with full margins, signed in pencil, titled and noted No. 7; a pale line of paper discoloration around the old mat opening and a small paper loss in the upper right margin. An exceedingly fine print by this little-known painter-etcher, technically brilliant in its sophisticated use of aquatint and stopping-out. The image shows a rock shore with crashing waves and gulls both flying and alit on the rocks. A few boats are in the sea. Four small buildings with stacks, which must constitute the factory, are at the right near the shore. A cold, grey day in what would appear to be Scotland. |
