Description: Brilliant impression on thin laid paper with narrow margins right and top, trimmed on or just within the platemark at the left and lacking most of the lower line of text at the bottom. The work shows the poet and dramatist Paul Scarron (1610-1660) seated in a chair, his back to the viewer, being fussed over by a group of rather coarse-looking middle-aged women. Behind them on a hill two satyrs play flute and bagpipe, and at the top of the hill rests a winged horse. The chair is marked with Scarron's age: thirty one, approximately the age when he became a paralytic cripple.
