Description: |
Fine impression on laid paper with narrow margins outside the platemark; flattened, irregular horizontal crease and light printer's crease and a few tiny spots of dry printing. Scudéry, originally a military man, was fascinated by the theater and produced a considerable amount of theatrical and literary works, some of which he used as political gambits to further his overall career. His appointment as Governor of the Fort of Notre-Dame de la Garde was probably the result of such a gambit. |
