Very fine impression on old, grey laid paper with full margins, titled, signed and numbered 1/25 in pencil. Mazzorbo is near Venice. The scene shows a canal with houses across the water, a docked gondola and a gondolier standing on shore holding his paddle. Le Meilleur is one of many lesser-known artists continuing the French landscape etching tradition, but there is a certain quirkiness about many of his works that sets him apart. |
