Description: Fine, early impression on laid paper, laid down to another sheet of early laid paper, trimmed on the borderline, which is visible in places on three sides, and just into the image at the top; old crease marks and dirt. The print was originally catalogued as Venus and Adonis, which is ridiculous as both of the principal figures are female. Jupiter is identified by the presence of his eagle. He approached the nymph Callisto disguised as Diana, andd the disguise is hinted at by the presence of a mask at his foot. Cupid aims his arrow at the pair, who are embracing among rocks, and two winged putti are at the left, exchanging quizzical glances.
