Description: |
Complex drawing, probably cut down from a larger sheet, on laid paper laid down to heavy paper. The image is of male and female demons and snake-like creatures among clouds, one devil carrying a bound nude figure. The collector's mark, given by Lugt tentatively to Conte Gelozzi or Gelosi, has now been identified as given by A. W. Lewis in "Raphael, the Pursuit of Perfection." The drawing is possibly by a Dresden artist, Andreas Goeding or Johann Kellerthaler. The old attribution verso to Petrini di Lugano is nonsensical. |
