Description: |
Fine impression, printed in tones of blue on thick wove paper with full margins and with the Estampe-Moderne blind stamp in the margin. Though L'Estampe-Moderne described their prints as original lithographs, it is evident that some of them are really photo-gravures of drawings. This one appears to show the grain of the lithographic stone, but may still not be an original lithograph. It is described on the accompanying tissue (which contains the poem by Léon Dierx that inspired it) as an original print in colors, unpublished and executed specially by the artist for L'Estampe Moderne, establishing at least that the image exists in no other printed form. Jourdain was an important figure in Art Nouveau. Trained as a painter, he was also an author, interior designer, ceramicist and probably best known as a furniture designer. |
