Fine, delicate impression on laid paper, trimmed on or just inside the platemark, which is visible in places. It is impossible to determine whether there could be a more accurate title for the print rather than this simple descriptive one. The mother appears to be nursing an infant, an old man at the left appears to have fallen asleep over his book, in the center a rather obese seated figure defies interpretation. Trees and shrubbery overhanging the wall seem to hint at an Italian setting. |
