Fine impression with even plate tone of this perhaps slightly over-bitten plate, on simili-japon with large margins, signed in pencil. Parrish records 16 or 17 proofs sold before the plate was sold to Klackner in 1889. This is the first of Parrish's etchings of Canadian subjects. Carleton was later joined with Parrstown to form what is now St. John, New Brunswick |
