Description: |
Fine, finished drawing of a most unusual and rather whimsical subject, the statue surviving whole among ruins, signed in black ink at the lower right. The paper is a brownish wove, suggesting that the drawing is later is Bison's career and of the nineteenth century. He lived until 1844. Bison is noted for such whimsical and fantastic subjects, many of them imaginary and carries on the tradition of the Tiepolos in that regard. |
