Description: Fine impression printed in brown-black on heavy, tan wove paper with full margins, signed in brown ink. Legros returned to the same sort of landscape subjects many times, constantly finding new ways of presenting them. The emphasis here is hardly on the tangible aspects of the subject but on the effects of early morning light, with strong contrasts of light in the open fields and shade by the water, and narrow beams of light crossing the tree trunks and penetrating the forest darkness. The published Bliss catalog does not mention this impression, but an annotated copy of it inserts it in pencil with the notation "framed." Old glue at the sheet edges verso.
