The complete set of five plates by Callot plus the title page by Abraham Bosse. Fine, uniform impressions on laid paper with small margins, in perfect condition, framed. Although listed as second states, the impressions are from the earliest edition as first states are known of only three of the set and those are apparently unique. The penitents represented are Sts. John, Jerome and Francis, as well as the Magdalene. The fifth plate, the only horizontal one, shows the death of the Magdalene. The title page is an oramented cenotaph. |
