Description: A strong, dark, overinked impression on simili-japon with good margins; edges of the sheet slightly browned, creases and tiny edge tears in the margins. The image was originally issued with four others relating to Béranger on the same sheet. This impression, accompanied by a cover sheet identifying the work as "La Maison de Béranger" is presumably from one of the Bois du Monde portfolios. Béranger's house is at the center rear, a large gateway to the left. In the street in front are pushcard vendors, strollers, and a horse-drawn cab. Pierre Jean de Béranger (1780-1857) was a French lyric poet, immensely popular with the masses.
