Finished gouache on grey wove paper, fully signed. Verso is an incomplete black chalk sketch of a woman seated on a bench in an archway. The recto shows a narrow winding street going uphill toward a major building, church towers behind. Colorful houses and vegetation line the street which is populated by adults and children. Withington, who worked mostly in Rockport, MA, was a member of the American Water Color Society. |
