Mercury and Argus

This small oval is one of the rarest of all Goltzius engravings; we have not seen another impression of it offered for sale for almost thirty years. A brilliant impression, trimmed on the oval platemark and in near-perfect condition. The image portrays Argus' hundred eyes closing to the lulling sound of Mercury's pipe.
