Christian IV, King of Denmark
Engraving, 1598, Hollstein 700, Franken 534 from Effigies Regum (18 portraits), 1598, 135 x 97 mm..
A fine impression on laid paper with large margins, binding nicks at the left edge of the
sheet, far from the image. Christian IV (1577-1648) was king of Denmark and Norway, ruling under a regency from 1588 to 1596, and sovereign himself afterward. Christiana in Norway (later Oslo) was founded by and named after him (1624).
