God Appearing to Moses and a Band of Musicians (The Victory Song)

Hand-colored woodcut, 1483, 320 x 190 mm., ex collection K.B. Graphische Sammlung, München (L. 1094); National Museum (not in L.). A page from the German Bible of 1483, published in Nuremberg by Anton Koberger, the cuts of which were based on those in the Quentell Bible of five years before. A fine impression of the full page with text, the woodcut with fine, fresh-looking old coloring. Stains, mostly in the margins and a few repairs at the edges of the sheet. The figures are in medieval dress and carry a portative organ and a drum.
