Jay See, (J.C.) (I.B.)
Pen and black ink, with superimposed engraving, 2001, 250 x 200 mm.. The actual image size is 135 x 114 mm. In a woodland scene of bare, branching trees, an oversized jay peers in from the right at a superimposed old engraving by the Master IB (ca. 1500-1550) of a winged female figure. The engraving is damaged and patched and the patch at the upper right corner appears to extend from one of the tree brances. The shape of the patch (which is a piece of another print) is replicated in larger size at the upper right corner of the drawing. The J.C. refers to Joseph Cornell and the Jay See puns his initials. Titled, signed and dated verso.
